Hi, I’m Samantha! I’m 25 years old and currently live in a lovely little apartment in Colorado Springs with my wonderful husband, our blue puppy, Mushu, and our gold puppy, Shep.
I moved from Virginia to Colorado by myself a month after graduating college because I had always wanted to live near the mountains. I didn’t know anyone here, but it just felt like the right decision. Now, I can say with utter certainty that it was on of the best decisions I have ever made.
Another best decision I made was adopting my blue heeler/cattle dog mix, Mushu, from the Humane Society. I am a very very strong believer in rescuing and adopting dogs rather than buying them from stores or breeders. I’ll leave it at that otherwise I will go on a rant. Anyway, I have been incredibly blessed with Mushu. We chose each other and never looked back. He’s my buddy in all things. He goes running, hiking, and watches Netflix with me. He’s intelligent, sweet, and athletic. Oh and he likes to herd little kids.
We acquired Shep about two years after I got Mushu. Her family couldn’t keep her anymore so we took her. She was extremely shy and it has been so much fun to see her come out of her shell. She used to be terrified of Eric but now she loves him so much. That’s her person.
Since moving to Colorado I’ve made some of the greatest friends I’ve ever had. One of my best friends, Cierra, and her husband, Mike, actually set my husband and me up. Mike and Eric were deployed together and I guess he thought the two of us would be a good fit. Eric is in the US Army Infantry. Since I grew up right outside of DC, I was no stranger to the military. However, I’ve learned more about the army in the past 2 and half years than I ever thought possible. He is the light and love of my life (in addition to Mushu of course!).
Other random things about me: I have a bachelors degree in Sociology, I’ve been a vegetarian my whole life, about a year after moving to Colorado I got my first tattoo (mountains on my left wrist), I have no idea what I want to do when I grow up, I have run 2 half marathons, I have a wonderful and supportive family, I’m learning about God, I have a job that I don’t love that pays pretty well.
I have a deep love of adventures, so thanks for joining me on my newest one!
