Self Care Sunday

There are soooo many posts on various social media platforms about how important it is to set aside time for yourself. This is something that I’ve been working on a lot over the past couple months. I usually do all my social activities etc on Saturdays which leaves Sundays as my “me days”.

There’s a bunch of posts about journaling/self reflection, meditating, yoga. To be honest none of those things have ever seemed all that fun or relaxing to me. Yes even yoga. I know, I know, its all the rage, but I have tried it so many times and I just don’t love it. Probably because I’m not flexible. But hey, it my “me day” and I can do what I want. Self care days don’t have to be complicated or fancy. It can just be an Epsom salt bath and a book/tv show you enjoy. Or a really good cup of coffee. Or a face mask. Really anything you can do for yourself that makes you feel good. It doesn’t have to be by yourself either! Sometimes I need time without people (introvert problems), but if you have a person that you enjoy being around/makes you happy/doesn’t make you socially tired then doing something with them counts too.

A couple things I enjoy doing for my “self care” days are:

1. Coffee at my favorite coffee place, Switchback. They’re coffee and food is amazing. They have breakfast sandwiches and avocado toast and pastries. It also has an amazing outdoor seating area with pretty lights, awnings, and I can bring Mushu (which is always a huge selling point). The staff is so friendly and really makes you feel welcome.

This is one of my favorite pictures that someone has taken of me. I look so genuinely happy and I love it.

2. Fancy bath. With all the running and hiking, I feel like my muscles are always sore. A bath with Epsom/dead sea salt, a bath bomb, and sometimes bubbles is one of my favorite ways to relax and help with the soreness.

Bath bombs from my favorite local place, Salus.

3. Face mask. I don’t know why, but face masks always make me feel like I’m really taking care of my skin.
