Mayflower Gulch

I’ve lived in Colorado for almost 5 years and have hardly taken advantage of the winters here. In fact, I hardly adventure outside of Colorado Springs in the winter. But no longer! After a trip to Breckenridge that’s going to change.

It all started when my husband and I decided we needed to do a little mini vacation. Whenever we do getaways in state we always try to bring the dogs. It makes it way more fun and special. We found a dog friendly hotel and picked a hike that looked amazing- Mayflower Gulch.

This hike was absolutely beautiful. I was worried that with the previous week’s 53in of snow, the trail would be super difficult, but it was surprisingly packed down. We had snowshoes, but for the first part we probably could have just used spikes. We definitely needed the snowshoes when we got up to the cabins though.

We went at 830am on a Friday and even on our way back it wasn’t too packed. The hike to the cabins is only about 3.5 miles and while there is some uphill, its nothing unbearable. We had so much fun on this hike and it was absolutely beautiful. Even though it wasn’t very long it really feels like your far back in the mountains. This hike made me realize that winter is no reason to avoid the trails! Snowshoeing was awesome and the dogs had so much fun. We’re definitely going to make it a priority to get out more during winter!
