Weddings, engagement photos, event photos. They can all be a little intimidating. You know you’re going to be the center focus and that there’s going to be a lot of your face (maybe even close ups!). It can be hard to feel confident, lets be honest we all have insecurities. Just keep in mind- you are already picture perfect just the way you are! That being said, having clear, glowing skin can definitely be a confidence boost in an already daunting situation.
1. Drink lots and lots of water. Right? I feel like we all know this one. But it seriously makes a difference. That glow from within look come from being hydrated!
2. Avoid excess sugar. Cutting sugar out completely just isn’t realistic but try choosing whole foods over processed ones.
3. Find a good skin care regimen and stick to it! I absolutely adore Beautycounter products and they have changed my skin SO MUCH. They are also free of things that are bad for you!
- Cleansing balm: this is AMAZING at removing make up. I use about an almond size amount and remove with a warm washcloth. My skin feels super soft and literally glows after using it
- Countertime eye cream: I always wondered why eye creams were so expensive because they never seemed to work. This stuff changed my mind. I use the tiniest amount and saw results in just a few days.
- Countermatch lotion: sinks right into the skin and delivers the exact amount of moisture that your skin needs. Adds to the “glow from within” look.
- Brightening oil: this is a vitamin C oil and it is life changing. I never understood what dull skin was until this came into my life. I like to put this on right before my foundation/tinted moisturizer because it blends seamlessly and helps with the radiant look.
4. Find a good foundation. One that lasts through sweating and tears and doesn’t look cakey after a few hours. Again, I’m a big fan of Beautycounter (dew tint/dew skin), but also Loreal True Match and Maybelline fit me have worked really well. Experiment here, Ulta and Sephora both have great return policies, so find something that works for you and your skin!
5. Reduce dairy. As with most things gut related, this is going to be different for anyone, but dairy can cause breakouts so reducing or cutting out dairy completely can help with breakouts.
6. Wash your pillow cases! And that means every 2-3 days. Think about all the gross stuff that gets on them and then think about your skin touching that for 6-8 hours.
Lots of little changes can add up to a big difference! Everyone’s skin is different, and you really must find what works for you. And don’t worry you can always talk to your photographer about doing a little skin touch up in photoshop. You don’t have to hide who you are or what your real skin looks like! These tips are just to help increase confidence as you step in front of the camera.
